Hourbrook for Windows is on its way

The same tracker with the same rules, for your PC: it notes what's in front, keeps it on the computer, and shows your day in the Hourbrook web app. There's no date yet. Leave your email and you'll hear when there's something to try.

The same rules on a PC

What we're building, and the promises it keeps from the Mac.

What it will do

  • Note the app and window in frontand the page in a browser, where Windows lets it
  • Notice when you step awayfrom keyboard and mouse, never from what you type
  • Keep everything in a database on the PC
  • Live in the traystart, pause, open, quit
  • Show your day in the Hourbrook web appwith memories read from the PC itself

What it won't

  • Take screenshots or record keystrokes
  • Look into private browser windows
  • Record apps you exclude
  • Upload your activityonly entries you log sync, as on the Mac

Your day in the browser

The Windows app will show its window through the Hourbrook web app. Your memories don't travel through our server to get there: the page asks the app on your own computer, over a private local connection with its own key, and draws them straight onto your screen.

The Mac app already has the same bridge, so the web app on your Mac can show memories too. It's off until you turn it on.

Breaks count up to

You decide which browser may look

The first time the web app wants your memories, the desktop app asks you whether to let that browser see them. Say no and nothing is shared; say yes and you can take it back from the list at any time.

Every request needs that key, and the app only answers on your own computer.

Fair time comes along

Breaks inside your work, calls and waiting on a build or an agent count on Windows too. No scores, no idle deductions.

What it looks like on the Mac today

A small item in the menu bar, and a main window with your day, week and tasks. A native Mac app, with everything it learns kept on the Mac.

Questions

When can I try it?

There's no date yet. A first version is being built and tested now; the list above hears first.

Will my Mac and PC share entries?

Yes. Entries you log sync to your account, from either. Each computer keeps its own activity.

Can I use the web app on Windows today?

Yes, to log and fix time, plan and see reports. It just can't track by itself without the app.

What about Linux?

Not planned yet.
