What's new
What changed in Hourbrook, newest first, in plain words. The Mac app, the web app and the server move together. Mac versions from 0.1.2 on update themselves.
Mac 0.1.2
Updates come to you
- Hourbrook now checks for new versions by itself and asks before installing one. Every update is signed, and the app checks the signature before it installs anything.
- Coming from 0.1.1? That version can't check for updates, so download 0.1.2 from this site once and drag it over the old one in Applications. Your time stays where it is. From then on, updates arrive on their own.
- Claude Code chats show in the Day's Claude Code lane as stretches of work, with the repo and branch. Hourbrook reads only times, the repo, branch, chat title and tool names, never your prompts, and you can turn it off in Settings › Privacy.
Mac 0.1.1
The first beta you can download
- Hourbrook for Mac is a free beta you can download from this site, for Apple silicon Macs on macOS 14 or later.
- Clients can have a website and a small logo, shown wherever the client appears, on the Mac and the web.
- Linear, GitHub, Jira, Claude and Cursor show their real marks.
The web looks like the Mac
- Colours, type and sizes now come from one source for both apps, so the web dashboard and the Mac match exactly, in light and dark and in every colour theme.
Calmer Projects, a tidier Day
- Projects show this week and the last four, with a quiet 12-week strip instead of heat tiles.
- In the Day, a memory's tick sits after its time, so every title starts at the same edge.
The web catches up
- Day, Week and Month on the web, with work planned for you drawn as planned cards.
- Invoices carry your bank details as a How to pay box, editable by owners only.
- Your tasks, checklists and plans sync to your account, private to you: owners, admins and leads never see them.
- People and Projects fit a laptop screen without cutting anything.
Claude can do more, and the Day keeps up
- Claude can now edit and delete entries, update and complete tasks, plan time and check the timer, each with Undo.
- Pinned app lanes in the Day, packed lanes for the rest, and a card when you hover a memory.
- Live tracking no longer stalls the app.
- Time per app in Claude's answers is off unless you turn it on.
One Calendar
- Day, Week and Month live in one Calendar, and the Day scrolls on without end.
Invoices at each person's rate
- Invoices bill each person at their own rate, the same way reports do.
- Entries kept only on this Mac say so.
- An install from before accounts keeps tracking locally after the update.
Fair time
- Breaks inside a sitting count as work, and so does waiting on an agent.
- Linear and GitHub issues assigned to you arrive in Tasks.
- A shared report can be emailed weekly or monthly.
- Time in the Claude app is named after the chat that's open.
Your data, your way
- Delete window activity with a click, from memories, the inspector or search, with Undo.
- Import your history from Toggl Track, Harvest and Clockify CSV exports.
- Never record these sites: domains you list leave no trace.
- Entries never carry window-title text unless you pick it.
- Only one Hourbrook tracks: a second copy asks to quit the other first.
