Where Clockify is the better choice comes first. Facts about Clockify are from its own site, read on 4 November 2026.
Choose Clockify if you want
- The cheapest paid plans here, and a free plan for small teams.
- Apps on every platform, Linux and phones included.
- SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001, and a long list of integrations.
- Its auto tracker is local too: only you see it, and admins see only what you turn into entries.
Where Hourbrook is different
- Hourbrook drafts entries from what it recorded, with its reasons; Clockify's auto tracker lists activities for you to turn into entries.
- No 45-day limit: the record stays until you delete it, and Settings › Privacy deletes it whenever you like.
- The day is drawn as a brook of app streams, and waiting on Claude Code or a build counts as work.
- A local MCP server lets Claude ask what you did, with every change undoable.

Hourbrook starts filling in your day from the first hour it runs, so the brook is there to pick from by the end of it.
What you'd be switching to
A small item in the menu bar, and a main window with your day, week and tasks. A native Mac app, with everything it learns kept on the Mac.
